01-04-08 & 01-05-08

I had the pleasure of fishing with Russ Wilkinson, John Deering, and Bill Johnson.  Russ fished with a fly rod and full sinking line while the rest of the crew used light spinning tackle.  The water temperature around the CBBT was 42.3 degrees and it was cold out both days we fished.

A countless number of 'football' stripers in the 22" to 24" range were caught throughout both day.

Russ Stayed With the 'Long Pole' and was Catching Stripers in Waters as Deep as 35'

John Deering was Busting 'em' Big Time with Heavy Metal

Productive Lures: 7" Bass Assassins in Opening Night and Chartreuse Glitter rigged on a 1 1/2 ounce jighead, 4" & 6" Barefoot Squid in Chartreuse and White rigged on 1 & 2 ounce jigheads, Specialized Baits 1 ounce Deceiver in Chartreuse/White and Pink/White (this was the first bucktail that I didn't have to add plastic to in order to catch fish), Lil Bunker 2 ounce Spoon in Green/White.

Most Productive Technique: Jigging the bottom.

01-07-08

I fished with John Keeler and Jamie Johnson.  We started out by working the CBBT, but only found football size stripers available so we moved out to the Atlantic Ocean.  We ran over 80 miles (both ways) on the Ocean to find very little bait and no stripers before rounding Cape Charles to find some stripers in the 36" to 40" range stacked up on structure.

What a Beautiful Sight

Jamie Johnson Landed this Nice Striper

This Striper was Caught on a 7" Bass Assassin

01-08-08

John Keeler and I decided to fish the Ocean side of the CBBT and it turned out to be a good and very productive move.  We stayed on stripers from 7:30 am until 2:30 pm before heading in early to wash my boat.

We Started Out Catching 25" Stripers

First One Caught from the Above School

They Started to get Larger

John Keeler Landed the Largest Striper of the Trip.  This is a 41 1/2" Beauty.  Nice Catch John.

I hope John chimes in and tells you about the lures and techniques he used during this trip.
