This was an outstanding week for catching striped bass on the Middle Chesapeake Bay.  The summer patter is just starting to kick in as seagulls were working the water in a variety of locations.

I had the pleasure of guiding 3 sets of father and son teams and fortunate enough to put them all on active stripers.  Hunter Macey from KY, pictured above, landed the largest striper this week.  It measured 32" and weighed in at 11 pounds.  It put up an excellent fight on light spinning tackle.  Soft lures were the most productive each trip using techniques from vertical to horizontal jigging.

Fly and light tackle equipment was used during the trips this week.

Over 15 striped bass from size 20" to 32" were caught on Storm, 4", WildEye Swim Shad, in Mullet.

The most productive technique was horizontally jigging Bass Assassins, 4", Saltwater Sea Shads in chartreuse/glitter rigged on 3/4 ounce jigheads.
